“It is so sad that in these days of increased prosperity, better housing, increased facilities and the arrival of computers and the internet there still seems to be as much domestic violence and damaged children as there ever was. With the increase in knife crime and young men being murdered week in week out it would seem that violence in some areas is the norm rather than the exception. One can only hope that charities such as Acorns can try to stem this tide of violence which leads to so much unhappiness and misery for the young victims. My wife, Denise Welch and I were both blessed with a loving family upbringing and we do hope that the Acorns website can be a stepping stone for young people with nowhere else to turn for help or shelter.
We are lost in admiration for those of you who have taken this problem to heart and endeavouring to support as many less fortunate than ourselves. I do encourage everyone to be as generous as you can to support this admirable charity”. Tim Healy
“No child should have to witness violence in the home against their loved ones. They are memories that can stay with a child for a long time and affect their whole view of life and relationships to people. We must do everything we can to show them a better life”. Carol Malia
“As a journalist working within the Tyne Tees region, I meet many people who’re trying to make a positive difference to the area in which we live. It’s a sad fact that children and young people are living with the effects of domestic violence. Acorns is offering a unique service of support to those 6 – 18 years olds in North Tyneside. I wish Acorns much success and hope they can truly help as many young people as possible recover from their experiences.” Pam Royle
