For a child or young person to access Acorns they need to be:

6 - 18 years old
-
Live in North Tyneside
-
Are affected by their experiences of domestic violence
-
Are not living in the same household as the perpetrator
-
AGREE TO ACORNS CONTACTING THEM
Children and young people can go on our waiting list by ringing themselves, or they can be referred by a carer or relative, or other agency, such as Heath Services, Social Services, Education, Youth Organisations, Voluntary Projects etc.
Stage 1
Initial telephone referral
Information required includes:
-
Personal details of child and main carer
-
Details of contact with perpetrator if any
-
Brief outline of the child or young person’s response to the situation
Stage 2
Letter to child or young person and their carer confirming the referral and place on the waiting list.
Agency referral forms to referrer
Team discussion/allocation of the case
Appointment inviting the child or young person and their carer to an introductory session followed by 8 therapy sessions.
